The Big West Reveals 2024 Women's Soccer Conference Schedule (2024)

Non-conference action commences around the league on Thursday, Aug. 15. League play around The Big West begins Thursday, Sept. 19with four matches on the docket, kicking off a seven-week slate. Each side will see five home matches and three bye dates dotted throughout the Thursday-Sunday rotation that ends on Oct. 31.

A few of the marquee matchups and storylines include:

• Thursday, Sept. 22(Week 2) CSUN at Cal State Fullerton – first-year Matador head coach Gina Brewer and company will compete in their first conference match of the year against the defending 2023 regular season champion Titans.
• Thursday, Oct. 3 (Week 3) UC Irvine at Cal Poly – a rematch of the 2023 Big West Championship matchup. The 'Eaters bested the Mustangs 1-0 to come away with the trophy. CP and UCI have crossed paths in the title match two of the past three years.
• Thursday, Oct. 17 (Week 5) Cal State Fullerton at UC Irvine – matchup of last season's regular-season and postseason champion. The Titans clinched the regular season crown alongside a 6-1-3 mark in conference and served as the host site for the 2023 Big West Championship.
• Sunday, Oct. 27 (Week 6) Long Beach State at UC Irvine – during last year's first-round clash, UCI creptby LBSU and advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 win in PK's following scoreless draw in OT.
• After a careerspanning over three decades, Cal Poly head coach Alex Crozier will retire after the 2024 campaign. Crozier has led the Mustangs to 10 regular season conference championships, six NCAA Tournament appearances, and three Big West Tournament titles and holds the most career victories among Big West coaches all-time, both in conference play (125-65-29) and overall. Crozier has been recognized in the conferencebest six times as Big West Coach of the Year.

In 2023, UC Irvine secured its third straight Big West championship after battling its way through as the fifth seed. The Anteaters needed more than overtime to knock off fourth-seeded Long Beach State as the group advanced past the first round 4-1 in penalty kicks. The semifinals saw UCI take down top-seeded and host-site Cal State Fullerton in a 1-0 decision, clinching a spot in the championship final for consecutive seasons.UC Irvine completed its three-peat with a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Cal Poly in the championship match.

The 'Eaters went on to advance to the third round of the NCAA Championship in back-to-back seasons starting with a thrilling 1-0 triumph over top-seeded and defending national champion UCLA. In the second round, UCI grindedout a 2-1 win over eighth-seeded Gonzaga before bowing out in the third round versus No. 5 seed Nebraska, 4-0.

The first round of the six-team 2024 Big West Women's Soccer Championship will be hosted at the higher-seeded team as the No. 3 seed takes on the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed hosts the No. 5 seed on Sunday, Nov. 3.
